The NSW Government has deferred the adoption of the National Construction Code 20205 until May 2027 in an advocacy win for Master Builders NSW. The Minister for Building has also ensured that the NSW Government has varied its implementation of NCC 2025 to provide the industry with more flexibility around waterproofing rectification work.
For remedial waterproofing to existing parts of apartment buildings in NSW, the NSW variations to NCC 2025 expressly allow a choice between NCC 2022 Amendment 2 (including AS 4654, Parts F1 and F3) and the new NCC 2025 waterproofing provisions. Confirm with your certifier and design practitioner which edition applies, get it confirmed in writing, and record it on the drawings and in your contract before work starts.
