Master Builders NSW commends the Minns Government and the Minister for Building

on the announcement that the construction industry will have until May 2027 to adjust

to new requirements in the new National Construction Code (NCC 2025).

“Builders will appreciate the support of the NSW Government at this time when housing

inflation is double the level in the rest of economy and the industry is focused on

delivering increased housing supply,”

“98% of home building businesses are small and medium firms which are already

struggling to stay cope with a jungle of red tape. It’s good that the Minns Government

has recognised that more that more change is the opposite of whats needed.

“This decision will mean that builders can get on with building more new homes to meet

the needs of our population,

“The decision to give apartment building owners with remedial building work the

flexibility to choose between the waterproofing requirements in the current NCC or

NCC 2025 is an enlightened approach that will cut costs for homeowners,”
