Master Builders has called for the re-establishment of an independent, specialist regulatory agency for the construction industry following revelations that industry figures have suffered mental crises, made suicide attempts and received death threats as a result of construction union conduct.

The new evidence of the human toll of unlawful construction union conduct emerged at the Queensland Government's Commission of Inquiry into the CFMEU and misconduct in the construction industry. 

 

Since the Albanese Government abolished the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) the industry has suffered from the absence of a regulator with the necessary powers to crack down misconduct which directs leads to the corruption and criminality.
