On Saturday November 4th, The Master Builders Association of New South Wales held the industry’s most distinguished commercial building awards - the 2023 Excellence in Construction, Safety & Apprenticeship Awards.

All the nominees for the Excellence in Construction, Safety & Apprenticeship Awards should be incredibly proud of the unparalleled construction standard from this year’s entries. The Master Builders Association of NSW is proud and humbled to be able to acknowledge and support the builders of these projects at this year’s Winners Presentation Evening. Hosts Taylor Aiken and Mark Beretta presented awards, in amongst being entertained and delighted by an aerial duo who swung above heads on silk ropes. With rows of draped beads hanging from the ceiling, magical tri-toned centerpieces, and a three-course meal - the excitement was palpable.

The evening began with Master Builders Association of NSW recognising their valued partners: Austral Bricks, Cbus Super, Clinton Recruitment, Master Builders Insurance Brokers, Nexia Australia and SafeWork NSW. This year over 150 entrants competed against each other, with over $9 billion worth of projects. Resulting in some very memorable winning projects. The judges commented on the high calibre of building for yet another year.

The Association would like to extend an immense thank you to the Construction, Safety & Apprenticeship Awards judges, who freely donate their time and expertise; Jeff Adams, Johnny Auditore, Tim Brook, Kevin Cohen, Peter Deane, Stephen Edwards, Owen Friend, John Humphreys, Omesh Jethwani, Shane Judd, John McKellar, Max Mosher, Pat Murphy, and David Solomon.

At the end of the night one deserving company walked away with the night’s Major Accolade – The 2023 Outstanding Construction Award. The room waited with bated breath as MBA NSW Deputy President Michael O’Donnell announced the award’s three finalists: Built in JV with Obayashi (BOJV) & in partnership with Walker Corporation for 6&8 Parramatta Square, John Holland for their Sydney Football Stadium, and Richard Crookes Constructions for the Cranbrook School, Stage 2 Redevelopment.

With Built in JV with Obayashi (BOJV) & in partnership with Walker Corporation taking home the win! At 55-storeys, 6&8 Parramatta Square (6&8PS) is the tallest commercial tower in Western Sydney and at 132,870m2 gross floor area - the largest commercial office building in Australia. 6&8PS is the final stage of what has become a world-class mixed-use precinct and vital civic meeting place for the broader city and region. The incredible scale and foundations of 6&8PS meant the building had to be designed differently to any other commercial tower.

Master Builders Association of NSW once again commends the expertise and contribution of the NSW construction industry that circulates around NSW, and congratulates all the 2023 Excellence in Construction, Safety & Apprenticeship Awards nominees and winners.
