Emergency construction hours have been extended once again until 31 March 2022.

The NSW Government has re-made a temporary COVID-19 Construction Works Order to allow construction work on weekends for quieter building works until the 31 March.

The updated COVID-19 Construction Works Order will facilitate construction over a broader timeframe in recognition of COVID-19 safety requirements to create safe work environments and minimise project delays, whilst also giving neighbours some respite from noise.

The extension of time allows construction without the need for approval on:

  • Saturday: 8am to 5pm with restrictions on any noisy works that have not been approved under a development consent. These restrictions are in place to reduce noise impacts on nearby residents.
  • Sunday: 9am to 5pm for quieter works. This means no noisy demolition work, or exceeding a certain noise and vibration threshold, include the use of power tools or playing music from radios or other electronic devices by workers or other persons on site.
  • No construction work is allowed on public holidays and only quieter works on weekends.

Details of the extension can be seen here and a full copy of the Order can be accessed here
