For NSW Civil Construction Contractors:
During the June 2026 quarter, $10.03 billion worth of engineering construction work was carried out in New South Wales.
This was 2.9 per cent higher than in the previous quarter and represents a 5.7% increase on12 months earlier.
It means that the June 2026 quarter was the strongest for engineering construction activity in New South Wales since September 2025.
Over the year to June 2026, a total of $ 40.09 billion worth of engineering construction work was carried out across New South Wales. This was 3.3 per cent more than in the previous 12-month period.
Competition for skilled labour is likely to remain intense on major infrastructure and energy projects particularly as the data centre construction pipeline gains momentum.
Contractors tied to transport, utilities, renewables and public works are still operating in a relatively strong market.
