Project
Crows Nest Station

The station has been constructed to the boundaries of the excavation being 25m deep, 25m wide x 200m long. The station contains 5 lifts and 9 escalators to move customers from the two station entrances down to the platform level.  Brickwork is a strong feature throughout the station, represented both internally and externally through precast concrete panels or in situ brickwork. The project also includes a 10 storey over station development. Materials handling was extremely challenging with some of the structural steel for the north building was complex with very large elements spanning between 25 and 36m and weighing up to 120T. Coordination with interface contractors was critical to the delivery of the project. Site location created access constraints requiring extensive out of hours work. A W Edwards have delivered a remarkable project featuring state of the art technologies together with a high level of finishes through the project both internal and external. Crows Nest Station will be a community asset for generations to come, an exemplar project well done to the Edwards team.
