The makeover of a commercial swimming pool presented Sunset’s pool designers and project management team with an exacting set of mandatory requirements. Added to the legislative requirements were the aspirations of 350-plus pool owners, whose interests were represented by three body corporate boards, an executive development committee and a firm of engineers. The pool building and reconstruction assignment, recently completed in an inner Sydney suburb, displays Sunset’s co-ordination abilities and multi-disciplined liaison skills. The project’s high specification required Sunset Pools to utilise the same sophisticated waterproofing techniques and materials used in the pool atop Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab, the world’s only seven-star hotel. Now maintaining a constant 26 degrees and in use year-round, the complex’s pool has been beautifully renewed as an asset that increases the value of each resident and owner’s investment in this urban community’s lifestyle. The development’s original pool shell and interior were in very poor condition and the water filtration and sanitisation systems were in disrepair, rendering the pool unattractive, unusable and a health risk. All but the reinforced shell needed removal before remedial rust treatment was completed. The swimming pool’s new tiled interior and sealed limestone coping sets off the broad expanse of pinewood decking that extends on all sides and establishes the pool within its contemporary urban environment. Flanked on three sides by high-rise apartment blocks, both the pool’s sparkling new interior and its surroundings are illuminated and defined with Lumascape stainless-steel light fittings that highlight this prestige residential development’s natural and tranquil hub. Sunset’s deliberate choice of durable finishes and automated water management systems ensure residents and investors benefit from minimal levies and maintenance overheads. The new pool is now a welcome addition to the community’s lifestyle and will add value to each resident and owner’s long-term real estate investment.
