Each year the bar is raised in terms of building refinement and sophistication. Selecting one builder from such a formidable field requires deep consideration. However, the judges did reach a unanimous decision based on this exceedingly complex alteration/addition. The access was difficult with constraints on delivery, use of plant, removal of waste. Partial demolition of concrete walls, floors and roof had to be completed by hand. Excavation and construction of a pool below sea level was constrained by the incoming tide. These and other factors necessitated site management and planning of the highest order. The complex design required a deep knowledge of the building process to achieve the architect’s vision. The execution of the work across all trades and attention to detail was exemplary and driven by the builder working on site. The levels of finish achieved were faultless.
