Project
Cricket NSW Multipurpose Building and Western Berm

The project combined refurbishment and new construction within the existing precinct, including a new two-storey multipurpose building accommodating up to 200 patrons for events and functions. The facility also provides grandstand seating for 100 spectators, with additional viewing capacity for approximately 600 people from a landscaped western berm.
Construction was undertaken on highly contaminated land with a 1.5m capping layer, requiring excavation through the contaminated material and strict environmental controls. Daily VOC monitoring was undertaken at site boundaries and excavation areas, along with regular acid sulphate soil testing due to the site’s proximity to the Parramatta River.
Restricted access and limited space required careful planning to minimise disruption to ongoing facility operations. Works also included external power and water services, service diversions, and extensive hard and soft landscaping.
The western berm contributes to SOPA’s long-term goal of remediating the brownfield site and returning valuable space to public use. The completed facility was delivered to a high standard and provides a valuable community asset.
