Project
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Stage 2A Redevelopment
Prize
Winner

Lipman were engaged to design and construct the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital - Stage 2A project.
The original works comprised of: Construction of a new Day Outpatient Building, demolition and refurbishment of an existing building, refurbishment of various outpatient services, refurbishment of former breast screen, fitout of office space for Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
Another part was awarded as a variation to the original contract: Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre Fit out.
This complex project had multiple work fronts operating simultaneously, and a key challenge was the varying access constraints to the differing construction zones. This resulted in a very narrow access route for construction workers, materials handling and cranage. Additionally, the refurbishment work fronts were contained within live and occupied Hospital Buildings.
The project team revisited methodologies and were able to amend the previous proposal for construction personnel and materials to travel across the live Ambulance Bay.
The Project was successfully completed in a challenging environment with demolition, construction, major underground services relocation, and refurbishment, managed in an efficient and professional manner.
