The University of Sydney’s Engineering and Technology Precinct (Stage 1 of the University revitalisation program) comprises new works and refurbishment of existing spaces to provide 17,000sm of space for state of the art Electrical Engineering research and teaching.
The works require the existing and new to be connected. The existing building remained in use during these works. Green star rating was a high priority. The design responded to the university’s Wingara Mura-Bunga Barrabugu design principles. A “constellation of spaces” and many indigenous art works were incorporated into the design and construction.
Structural components, spaces and facades were complex. Engineering on display themes required careful integration of services and structure.
This is a world class research and teaching laboratory facility for the next generation of Engineers.
