The Sydney Gateway project is a major new piece of Civil Engineering infrastructure which connects Sydney’s motorway network to the city’s Domestic and International Airports. Costing nearly $1.8 Billion the gateway project caters for 100,000 vehicles per day and features 5 kilometers of interlinked roads, 19 bridge structures and pedestrian and cycle paths. Various major services (sewerage, water, gas and power) had to be realigned to facilitate the new roadways. The centerpieces of the project are the ingenious twin arch bridges which span the Alexandra canal. The project was delivered on time and on budget and the project leaders created a very positive ‘can do’ work ethic which permeated into the whole construction team. Everyone involved can be justly proud of their achievement.
