The Keepit Dam project consisted of a safety upgrade to increase the dam’s ability to safely cope under extreme flood conditions.
The works included:
•    Construction of a 200 metre wide spillway with three fuse plugs;
•    Construction of a 400 metre wide spillway with four fuse plugs and raising existing embankments;
•    Construction of a zoned earth and rock filled saddle dam.
The 200m spillway required the excavation of 450,000m3 of rock for crushing using drill and blast methods.
The saddle dam was constructed adjacent to a caravan park which was kept in operation at all times.
A most impressive construction project, with the work was completed in two years.
