This project is the redevelopment of the former Swiss Grand Resort Spa in Bondi. The Pacific is a mixed-use development now with 112 luxury residential apartments, a boutique hotel with 69 rooms, and retail tenancies.  One complete floor was added to the building after all services and finishes were demolished. New works included new services and lifts. The two levels of the basement were refurbished and include car parking, pool and gym.  The design of the new floor entailed significant fall risk and Hutchinson developed a safe work procedure specific to the project. Works included new penetrations for lifts requiring truncation of the existing post-tensioned structure. A full scan survey of the existing building was undertaken.  Works were complicated by building changes during construction, partial demolition requirements, concrete remedial works that arose during the project, limited floor-to-ceiling heights and careful selection of finishes to mitigate the corrosive nature of the salt-laden air. Purchasers of the apartments were given the option to select finishes. No two apartments are the same.  The finished product is of a high standard and in keeping with the Bondi lifestyle.
