This refurb project for the Woolcock Institute at Macquarie Uni transformed an existing 1998-built commercial office building into a flexible, high-performance research and clinical space that supports the next generation of healthcare innovation and academic excellence. The functional spaces delivered vary from: a PC2 lab, sleep unit, admin areas, healthcare consulting unit, as well as a large cold shell area for future fit-out. The scope also included new facade cladding & windows. This project is a benchmark for the transformation of a disused commercial building into a world-class health and research facility while navigating complex live campus constraints, an accelerated program, and stringent sustainability targets. The quality of the refurbished building both internally and externally is unremittingly good - particularly given the tight construction programme.
