This project blends the heritage of the old building with a new “space age” office fit-out utilising eye-catching stainless steel. Forma considered every aspect of the design and construction process managing to maintain the rich heritage of the building, while creating a functional, dynamic and visually appealing workplace. Structural demolition was engineered using spreader beams and the existing structure eliminating the need for back propping. Prefabricated joinery was delivered preassembled, with control samples made to verify the fit and quality of the unique stainless-steel screen elements and workstation benches. During construction, heritage features, including the timber windows, were carefully protected and work was scheduled to avoid peak retail tenancy hours for the Country Road store below. The build had to manage long lead-time items of 16-weeks for the curved stainless steel workstation screens. The faultless use of stone and stainless-steel enhance the rich history of the 100-year-old build
