Project
Barangaroo Cutaway Cultural Facility

A key architectural feature of the Barangaroo Cutaway Cultural Facility was the introduction of bespoke curved laminated timber features, referred to as “Feature Trees”. Individual members were manufactured in Europe, transported to site and craned into position.
Due to their complex geometry, their manufacture and assembly required millimetre-level precision. The beams were designed with integrated steel members embedded within the timber, allowing critical structural connections to be installed prior to delivery, ensuring accuracy and efficiency during installation.
FDC’s attention to connection detailing, prefabrication and electrical services integration is first-class in this project, with a quality project team delivering a quality product that showcases complex geometry and exceptional craftsmanship.
