Project
Macquarie University Engineering Innovation Building

The School of Engineering and Australian Astronomical Optics (AAO) project comprised two main buildings across four key zones, incorporating demolition, refurbishment and new construction. A new four-level facility provides specialist workshops, clean rooms and laboratory spaces for AAO.

Technically complex, the project integrated existing buildings with three new structures and included an amphitheatre event space spanning three levels and 11 unique façade systems featuring glass, metal screens and louvres.

FDC successfully managed complex stakeholder engagement, significant architectural and structural evolution and ambitious public realm outcomes with minimal program impact. The project demonstrates exceptional construction, technical capability, leadership and collaboration, delivering a highly adaptable facility.
