The project was for the design and construction of a new dealership to be housed on a challenging 2.5Ha site, previously home to a industrial facility with contaminated ground due to redundant oil pits, in ground fuel tanks, deteriorating concrete slabs and buried train tracks.
FDC’s focus was to retain to maintain as much of the existing structure as possible to minimise costs. This was achieved engineering a solution to prop the existing precast panels, using the existing structure as bracing, which in turn allowed the existing panels to cut insitu.
The new dealership comprises of a specialist mechanical workshop, showroom, offices, car-parking, car detailing areas and vehicle storage areas. The second building retained during demolition) would be fully renovated to include an additional showroom, basement carpark and storage with all three levels being accessible via a vehicular lift.
