This is the most beautiful build and design that the judges had seen this year. The project constraints consisted of a comfortable budget with a prominent site and a challenging design of cantilevered floor slabs, beams and the pavilion roof. The Construction Connection worked closely with the engineers SDA Structures to successfully achieve the architect’s vision of a floating pavilion supported by a 31m-long off-form profiled concrete beam, known as "the superbeam". The 12m cantilever on the eastern end and 8.5m cantilever on the western end presented many challenges. The care and skill of all workers and design professionals involved cannot be overstated and they should all be proud of the building they have produced.
