Woodstock was originally built in its final form by 1878 but had fallen into disrepair over successive owners when Blacktown Council acquired it in 1998. Carfax Commercial Constructions was awarded the contract to refurbish and restore what was a fine example of a Victorian country homestead, to be adapted to be used as a community asset.  Over the ensuing 13 months, Carfax lifted and levelled the structure, strengthened the foundations with underpinning, removed and replaced damaged structural timbers caused by both active termites and water, sourced like materials for fireplaces, roof shingles and pressed metal ceilings and repaired both lathe and plaster and hard plaster sections of walls. Some verandahs have been enclosed and new floor timbers laid as necessary.  The resulting building works has brought to life a derelict and neglected piece of Australian history. The works were sympathetically undertaken and carried out to a high standard.
