The St Leonards Plaza project (Wandagarri Park) provides a much needed, quiet greenspace in the heart of St Leonards. Arenco is to be commended for realizing a very difficult objective located directly over the main North Shore railway line.  Essentially the existing Pacific Highway Road bridge has been extended Southwards using 37 Super-T girders and one specialist L girder, all sitting on the necessary support structure. 3,000 sqm of additional space was created which was then topped with a slab and turned into an undulating park complete with a children’s play area.  The judges appreciated Arenco’s challenges in working over a busy railway line, navigating complex industrial issues and handling huge structural components all in the heart of St Leonards and next to the Pacific Highway. Well done, Arenco!
