Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the process by which you can achieve a nationally recognised qualification, without the need to attend classes. You are assessed by providing us with evidence of the knowledge, skills and experience you already have. Our industry expert assessors review your submission and provide feedback if we require more information or clarification.

With RPL you can complete the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) within 6 months.

HOW DOES THIS PROGRAM BENEFIT MY CAREER?

The CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) RPL program is designed to enable potential builders and industry professionals to formally recognise their skills in business, their technical knowledge and managing building and construction projects. IS THIS PROGRAM FOR ME?

To enrol in this course you must have the following entry requirements:                                                                                                                  

  • a minimum of five (5) years full-time (or equivalent) experience in the building and construction industry (experience must be within the last 10 years).
  • Recommended to have a minimum of six (6) months of  supervisory experience 
  • a valid White Card (General Construction Induction card)
  • You hold a current Contractor’s Licence, industry qualification OR are able to provide the details of two (2) referees that have worked with you for 12 months or more and can confirm your work history / experience. (Referees must be a current licenced builder, construction manager or site foreman)
  • able to answer at least 80% of the technical industry questions correctly during your application process.
  • access to various medium rise building projects, including:
    - Classes 1 and 10, and
    - Classes 2 and 3 to a maximum of 3 storeys, and
    - Classes 4 to 9 to a maximum of 3 storeys, not including Type A construction.

HOW LONG IS THIS PROGRAM?

This program must be completed within 6 months.

To achieve this, the knowledge based assessment is required to be completed and submitted within 2 months and all evidence is to be submitted within 5 months.

At the end of the 6 months, our Customer Service team will work with you to provide an online learning option for any units of competency that you are unable to achieve in the RPL process.

    What types of evidence do I need to provide?

    Examples of the types of evidence that you will need to gather will depend on the qualification you are completing, however, examples could include:

    • Video footage of your performing tasks on site
    • Time-lapse photos of you performing tasks on site
    • Certificates you have already gained 
    • Project management documentation

     

    HOW MUCH WILL THE PROGRAM FEES COST ME?

    This program may be subsidised by the NSW Government Smart and Skilled initiative. If you are eligible for the government subsidy, your student fee will be determined by the NSW Government.

    Smart and Skilled prices are subject to funding availability. A quote of applicable fees and funding will be provided prior to enrolment.

    *Student fees will increase if you are assessed as ‘not yet competent’ by Recognition of Prior Learning in any unit/s of competency and are required to undertake classroom or distance-based training and assessment. Fees may increase on a pro-rata basis per unit of competency to a maximum of $2,850.

    You will not be permitted to move from one assessment stage to the next until the accompanying fees are paid in full. All participant fees are GST exempt.

    According to the Standards for RTOs 2015, at no stage will Master Builders charge more than $1,500.00 in advance of services being provided.

    SMART AND SKILLED

    The Smart and Skilled program provides subsidies from the NSW Government to support your training. Master Builders has a contract with the NSW Government (Department of Education) to offer subsidised training and assessment programs under the government's Smart and Skilled program.

    SKILLING FOR RECOVERY

    Are you eligible for fee-free training?

    The NSW Government and Master Builders are committed to supporting the economic recovery of NSW from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
    Under the Skilling for Recovery program, Training Services NSW is providing fee-free* training places with Master Builders if you meet ONE of the following criteria:

    • aged 16 to 24 years old OR
    • A NSW Veteran or their recognised partner or spouse OR
    • Unemployed OR
    • At risk of unemployment OR
    • Employed and don't hold a Certificate III or above qualification


    Plus you must also meet all of the following Smart and Skilled criteria:

    • live or work in NSW
    • be an Australian Citizen, a permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder
    • have left school

    *Training under JobTrainer is fee-free and fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth goverments. Subject to Smart and Skilled, and Skilling for Recovery eligibility criteria. Limited places are available
