    This course is designed to enable potential builders and others in the industry to improve their business skills and technical knowledge so that they can successfully manage their business. The course covers the areas required for both national accreditation of the qualification and also the licensing requirements of NSW Fair Trading. Participants may complete the whole course in order to qualify for the Certificate IV or can choose one or more units that are critical skills gaps for themselves or their company.

    Entry Requirements 
    Participants with more than five (5) years post-apprenticeship experience in the building construction industry may enrol in this course.
    There are three (3) pathways to obtain your qualification:
    1. Classroom Based
    2. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
    3. Distance Learning

    Sixteen (16) units of competency are required for award of this qualification:

          Select, procure and store construction materials for low rise projects

          Conduct on-site supervision of building and construction projects

          Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects

          Apply structural principles to residential low rise constructions

    Completed participants may then follow a pathway into a higher level qualification within the Building and Construction industry to enhance the career objectives and create the necessary pathway towards building contractor licence.

    Pathways include Diploma in Building and Construction and Advanced Diploma in Building and Construction (Management).
