An extraordinary general meeting of the CSMBA was held on 19 May 1953, under the chairmanship of Mr W J Bryant, following negotiations with the MBA of NSW. At that meeting it was resolved to disband the council, and affiliate the organisation with the MBA of NSW. Deeds of Affiliation were signed on 30 June 1953, on the occasion of a dinner meeting held at Tattersalls Club, Sydney.
Metropolitan associations which became branches of the MBA on 30 June 1953 were: Canterbury-Bankstown, Eastern Suburbs, Manly-Warringah, St George and Sutherland, Main Northern (now Parramatta and Districts Division), Main Southern (which later incorporated Sutherland is now known as Sutherland District Division), Western Suburbs and, Central Cumberland.
