    Judge's Comments:

A large range of Australian timbers were utilised for the Noble, Bradman & Messenger Stands at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The use of timbers ranged from high end finishes, acoustic ceilings and for lightweight structures.

All timbers used were Australian species and manufactured by A W Edwards/Rintoul Pty Limited.
The Trustees Reserve wall panelling is spotted gum ¼ cut and utilised curved moulds with each piece of different size and radii. The boardroom table was specifically manufactured from Briggs ‘True Grain’ chocolate with curved solid timber stained to match. The historic doors of Australian Red Cedar were removed, refurbished and reinstalled. The floor to the Trustee Suites was engineered Spotted Gum T&G floor boards with three stripes per panel.

Other areas utilising timber included: Custom made dining room ceiling panels; Spotted Gum custom made mobile room dividers; Joinery to corporate areas using a mix of Spotted Gum veneer ¼ cut and Briggs ‘True Grain’ Chocolate; Victorian Ash Timber bumper rails to back of house areas; Western Red Cedar to timber screens to Level 1 food and beverage areas; and aged Oak to the Brewers Pavilion floor.

The wide range and use of Australian timbers and the attention to detail, make this a commendable winner in the Best Use of Timber Award.
